Lunacycle, an electric bike company located in El Segundo, approached us in creating a high-end art installation retail space to exhibit a couple of their bikes.
Driven by using their typical materials, in-house capabilities and tight budget, I designed a series of bike displays and experiential moments that gave a nod to their locality and brand identity.
Assets include a bench, a ceiling city grid, and multiple bike displays. The projects displayed on this page only show my work.
Ceiling City Grid:
A grid composed of sixteen 8’ metal sheets laser cut to reveal the city grid of Los Angeles. A secondary layer that highlights large road interconnections standoff from the initial layer by 2”. The back frame is wrapped in fabric to cover overhang and diffuse lighting.
Luna Bench:
A grid composed of sixteen 8’ metal sheets laser cut to reveal the city grid of Los Angeles. A secondary layer that highlights large road interconnections standoff from the initial layer by 2”. The back frame is wrapped in fabric to cover overhang and diffuse lighting.
Topographic Bike Display:
A series of metal sheets intersecting a plynth. The sheets are cut in a way where it implies movement, elevation and topography. Iterations also explored as a wall element with interlocking shelving units.
Other Bike Display:
Exhibiting bikes on a plynth with 3-D printed extrusions of muddy bike tracks. Exhibiting bikes as if they were pieces of art.
