Lathe of Heaven

Typography Book
ACADEMIC UCLA  / 2016 Instructor Noa Kaplan

To explore a variation between minimalism and maximalism, I designed eighty book covers for the Lathe of Heaven, a novel by Ursula K. Le Guin. The following designs in this book are conceptually driven to represent the novel and its themes. Times New Roman was the only font permitted to use while designing the covers. The first half of my designs are intentionally minimalist, while the latter half explore more contemporary styles. Each chapter introduces new typographic constraints that direct the complexity and choices present in each variation.
